Why should you purify or filter the water in your home?
Improving the quality of your water means getting rid of impurities. As a result, your water will be safer to drink and will taste better. Investing in a purification or filtration system will also ensure your home’s water is better suited to everyday household tasks. You can choose from myriad systems specifically designed for various situations. The most ideal option for you will depend on several factors such as the source of your water, your municipality, the plumbing in your home, and the specific needs of your household – allergies, dietary preferences, etc.
Types of purification and filtration systems
Filtered water
Filtered water goes through a filter that removes certain impurities and particles. Filters can also remove some chemical products and contaminants to improve the taste and smell of your home’s water. This type of system produces safe water for daily consumption (beverages, cooking, coffee), provides clean water for household usage (showers, baths, washing produce), and extends the lifespan of appliances.
Purified water
Purified water goes through a more stringent purification process that involves either reverse osmosis or ultrafiltration. Purification eliminates most contaminants including bacteria, viruses, chemical products, minerals, and heavy metals.
Filtration systems are usually enough to produce water that is safe for everyday use or to improve the taste of drinking water. Purification systems are used when higher-purity water is required or for drinking water.
Do I need a filtration or a purification system?
Our water purification and filtration systems are designed to improve the quality of the water that comes from municipal water supplies.
Canadian drinking water standards require municipalities to filter out harmful particles such as carbon, pollen, sand, yeast, bacteria, dust, and viruses. However, this process will not necessarily result in a water with an optimal taste, smell, colour, or hardness. In fact, municipalities often rely on products such as chlorine to disinfect water and eliminate harmful micro-organisms and these chemical products might linger in the water after the treatment process. That means they can be ingested or absorbed through the skin and even pose long-term health risks.
Moreover, aging municipal infrastructures used to treat and distribute water can put the quality of the drinking water they produce in doubt. By installing a water purification or filtration system in your home, you’ll be investing in equipment that ensures you always have access to high-quality, clean water.
